Why a “Year In Review”? Three reasons: to show potential recruits and the curious exactly what we do; to celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of our teammates; to inspire anyone who’s wanting to help their communities with very little or no money, and with or without a team.

2016 has been a pretty quiet year for the VAI. The highlight of the year: Sakura and Ira’s baby girl was born!

Apart from our bi-weekly neighborhood beautification, we’ve really just been gearing up for things to come in 2017. Still collecting winter coats and donations for our winter hand out. It hasn’t gotten to the biting part of winter here yet, so we’re collecting through January. We’ve made a big connection through someone at Ira’s work and will be putting together a large handout either in spring or summer.

We are also in the planning stages of putting together crochet mats for the homeless that are made from plastic bags. Currently we are just working on collecting donations (at 600 bags per mat needed, that’s LOTS of plastic!)
